Simple Newborn Session vs. The Newborn Experience: Which Is Right for You?
Not every family wants the same kind of newborn photography session.
Some parents are looking for just a few beautiful, timeless photographs of their new baby without spending hours in the studio. Others have their heart set on the full newborn photography experience—carefully posed images, tiny details, baskets and blankets, and portraits with the whole family.
That’s why I offer two different options for newborn photography at my New Jersey studio: The Studio Portrait Session and The Newborn Experience.
Both are designed to give you beautiful, polished photographs of this incredibly short season. The biggest difference is simply how much variety and posing you want from your session.
The Studio Portrait Session
The Studio Portrait Session is perfect for families who want to keep newborn photos simple, relaxed and streamlined.
For a newborn session, baby will be photographed either wrapped in one simple pose/setup or in one outfit provided by you. Rather than moving through multiple newborn poses, blankets, baskets and setups, we keep the focus on creating a small collection of beautiful portraits without all of the extras of a traditional newborn session. Family and sibling photos are included.
The session lasts up to 45 minutes and includes:
Simple newborn portraits with baby wrapped or in one client-provided outfit
Use of studio props as appropriate
Shoot prep and wardrobe guide
Immediate family
Online proofing gallery
10 high-resolution digital images of your choice
Additional images and the full gallery are available for purchase.
This is a great choice if you love a minimal, timeless look and primarily want a handful of beautiful images to document how tiny your baby is right now.
It’s also perfect for parents who don’t necessarily want the traditional two-hour newborn photography experience and would prefer something shorter and simpler.

The Newborn Experience
The Newborn Experience is my full newborn photography session.
Newborns don’t work on a photography schedule, so these sessions allow up to two hours for feeding, changing, soothing and settling your baby throughout the session. That extra time also allows us to create more variety with posing.
Your baby can be photographed in carefully posed positions on blankets and in props.
We’ll also create portraits with parents, siblings and the whole immediate family.
The Newborn Experience includes:
Up to 2 hours in the studio
Carefully posed newborn portraits
Wrapped newborn portraits
Blankets, baskets and additional setups
Family and sibling photos
Use of my newborn wraps, props and accessories
20 hand-edited digital images of your choice
